Lemonade All Flavors

July 1, 2016

Taste like Key Lime Pie. Blending whole limes lets you extract flavor from the peel and the lime juice, creating a more full-bodied drink. If you don't want to deal with straining out the peel and pulp, you could just use the lime juice and add in a little zest before blending.

SERVES 4

INGREDIENTS:

3 limes

1/3 c. sugar

3 c. water

3 tbsp. sweetened condensed milk

ice

directions:
Wash and quarter the limes, then add them to a blender with the sugar, water and sweetened condensed milk. Pulse until the limes are thoroughly chopped, then pour the mixture through a strainer to remove the peel and pulp.

Serve juice over ice, or blend with ice for a more slushy-like consistency.

A twist on lemonade: Rozanne Gold stirs in pureed watermelon. "You can adjust the level of sweetness by experimenting with the amount of honey and lemon," she says. "And during cocktail hour, you might add a fourth ingredient - vodka."

SERVES 4

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 lb. sliced seedless watermelon

Zest of 1 lemon

3/4 c. fresh lemon juice

1/2 c. mild honey (such as orange blossom)

1 lemon

DIRECTIONS:

In the bowl of a food processor, place watermelon and process until very smooth. Strain through a coarse sieve set over a bowl, stirring to push through any pulp. Pour juice into a large pitcher. Add lemon zest.

In a bowl, whisk lemon juice and honey until honey dissolves; stir into watermelon juice. Stir in 1 1/2 cups cold water; cover and refrigerate until very cold. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

All this taste delicious!
